Dental Bridges

Introduction

Missing tooth/teeth leads to gap formation between teeth. This will lead the healthy tooth adjacent to the gap, to slowly move into the missing – tooth/teeth – space, altering the natural alignment of your teeth. Consequently, the misaligned teeth will cause gum disease, bite problems, and in a long run, it will eventually cause temporomandibular joint problems and pain. Patients may have one or more gaps due to the missing tooth. This can be solved by dental bridges where it could be cemented to fill the gaps.

Bridge

What is a dental bridge?

When you have a missing tooth or teeth, a bridge as the name suggest, it will close or bridge the gaps in your smile. A dental bridge is a false tooth (called pontic) that is held in place by the natural teeth (called abutment teeth) on either side of the gap. Although pontics can be made from a variety of materials such as metals, typically they’re made from porcelain to aesthetically blend in with your natural teeth.
